Tonight I tested using my wifes phone and confirmed that the microphone was not working. When I switched to speaker mode it worked fine. I tried turning off the noise cancellation. Any other things I can try?

5. Sometimes a factory reset can fix such an issue. So perform a Force Reset and see if the problem is fixed.
6. If the problem persists, it means that the microphone is damaged. You should take your device to a repair shop to get it fixed or replaced.
