I have a WDC WD30EZRX-00DC0B0 3TB HDD and i was wondering what the optimal or "safe" operating temperatures were for this particular HDD, My HDD typically gets 31c idle and bounces between 37-41c under load (depending on ambient temperature). I am wondering if these are safe temps as i have seen people suggest not going above 40c and some say up to 45c is fine and others claim that 60c is safe temps. So i am getting rather conflicting answers, this site has helped me in the past and i would like to ask for your assistance again.

If it helps any, the HDD is 1-2 years old.

I also apologize if this has been answered before.

Much Thanks.

Hey there, Doomvor!

The best way to keep your peace of mind when we talk about storage is to always have backups of your data (at least two copies of it) stored on different storage devices/locations. This is the best way to prevent any potential data loss.
As for your WD Green HDD, these temps are perfectly normal. When using the HDD (reading/writing) the normal operating speed can go up to 60° C. The idle (not-operating) temps can reach 70° C depending on the PC configuration. For more details on this, I'd advise you to check the specs sheet for your WD30EZRX .

Hope this was helpful. Best of luck! :)
