I searched I promise but alas there was no answers I could find. At any rate this is my first post here but I've come here for years for info. I have a home/pro recording studio and have realized I need three monitors. The two I use for my desk are great but I would really like one in the live room so I can actually control things in the mix while in the other room as well as having clients have access to lyrics, music, waveforms etc...
I have a (knock on wood) trusty Dell 690 that runs pro tools using a MOTU core system which consists of a pci-x (and soon pci-e) card to get audio in and out. It's highly reliable and has zero latency. For a video card I have GeForce 9800 gtx. The only slot I have available is a PCI-E -1x. I am wondering if i could use the NVIDIA Quadro nvs 300 along with the geforce 9800? Finding a PCI-E x1 is not the easiest bu they are there. I have so far seen no wwhose used them in a dell 690.
I also have two AMD Radeon 5450s. My other question is would I just be better off using the two 5450s which given their low profile would fit in contrast to the 9800 which takes up two slots?
Thanks in advance

Solution
The nvs 300 should work just fine. It supports two monitors though it looks like you'd be limited to single link DVI. Probably doesn't matter for what you need though.

Thanks for replying. One person suggested an nvs 295 as a solution which seems very much the same nvs 300 so I think I will go for it. Just needed the extra reaffirmation. Thanks again. Fingers are crossed.
