Ok so my hard drive is dead and I want to recover my data, can I open the drive and put the dead drives disk in another hdd and then my data will be on the other one?

Solution

Can you physically do it? Sure.
Will you get your data back? Doubtful.

But...you have nothing to lose. The drive is already dead. Your stuff is gone.
Try it. And PLEASE let us know what happens.

This way you'll ruin your other HDD as well. The disks inside are in sterile condition so once you take it apart the damage will be permanent.
Try using Acronis to recover the data.

Lololol will do xD

Same to the firmware revision.

And the WikiHow linked does not tell you that you need a clean room and cannot allow any dust at all to get on the platters. If it does then the head will skip and can cause reading errors and possibly scratch the platters.

That is how a professional company recovers data but they have the tools and a clean room to do the work in.

Swapping platters requires all work to be done in a "clean room." Hospitals can only wish their operating theatres were as pristine. A piece of hair or dust, or even a fingerprint, can completely wreck a hard drive. Data recovery services can do this because they have the facilities for it.

Not just the firmware version, but also the contents of the flash ROM containing the map of bad/reallocated sectors. In other words, not a job for amateurs.

True although you can get lucky. I have, a few times, swapped the PCB of one that literally burnt up (i.e. a chip caught fire) with the exact same model/firmware and it worked. Was lucky though because I tried it once more for a customer and it did not work.
