Hi folks,
I'm batting zero in an attempt to buy a working Asus Sabertooth Z77 mobo. I've bought 2 so far on
eBay; one cost $200.00 and it was painfully obvious the seller knew it was bad. I got my money
back on that one. The other cost me $300.00 and looked as if the seller took great care. But the
A1 & A2 slots were bad and my return is still pending.

So I'm through with these used boards IF I can be certain that my i7-2600K CPU will work on an
ivybridge mobo. I'm willing to buy new and prefer it but I can't find a high quality board with
an 1155 socket and Z77 chipset.

There was a very short topic asking a similar question and the replier said it would as long as the bios was o3o3 or higher. I have no idea what he meant unless all ivybridge mobos take the same bios versions? (That doesn't sound right).

I need a good 8 or 10 choke board for OC reasons so if I can run my i7-2600k in a board with the
latest chipset and 1155 socket, maybe someone can help shave off some time for me and point out a qualifying mobo with a max price of $300.00? I want to go with an Asus if possible but that's not "written in stone".

Buying a new Haswell and mobo is out of the question. My work requires a high performance speed from the cpu and I run my i7-2600k at 5Ghz when I need it. From everything I read, (and a number of owners who answered me), the Haswell i7-5xxx's would have to be what I consider if I want to match the i7-2600k speed.

That would put the processor and mobo cost well over $600.00 and I don't have it.
thanks,
Rich
