I recently purchased a new router, N300 Wireless Dual Band ADSL2+ Modem Router (model DGND3300v2), due to my old one being incredibly outdated. In order to set up this router I had to connect to it via an Ethernet cable, I set it up easily without any issues arising. All other members of my household have successfully connected to the WiFi with the only issue being that it broadcasts two different connections, those being 11N SSID and 11G SSID, with 11G SSID being very unreliable in that it only works occassionally. My laptop is an Asus X555LD. The main issue is that I only get the 11G SSID connection made available to me which then doesn't let me connect to the connection, instead displaying a message saying "Unable to connect to Network".

I have tried to remedy this through the following methods:

  • /ip release
    /ip renew
Checking for updates on my driver
Adding the MAC address of my laptop to the trusted devices area of the settings on the router login page

Some extra information that might help:

C:\Users\Asus>ipconfig /all

Any help would be much appreciated! I don't have very much knowledge in terms of this stuff so I'm also gonna apologise in advance if I'm a little slow on the uptake. Thank you!

Okay, so I'm thinking something may be wrong with the router/modem if other people are experiencing disconnects and your connection isn't stable either. Either way, I would reset the router and set it up again and reboot the modem.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, it didn't notify me of your answer! So I reset everything and now it still only broadcasts the "dud" connection but this time around allows me to access it. However it says that it's restricted. Thank you for your help so far!

Yup, every other device in the house connects no problem. I'm wondering if it might be because I set the modem up via an Ethernet cable through my laptop because it's the one device that can't connect? I don't know though. Thank you, again.
