So I bought a new external USB sound card ( Asus xonar u7 gaming ) , thinking it would just make my sound experience better , and for the most part it has, but only when I use my headphones with it.
My problem is that I bought this sound card more to play music or watch movies with my speakers , I got 2.1 speakers that connect to a standard 3.5mm jack.
I don't know what I did wrong but when I plug my soundcard into the usb the sound just disappears, when I try to plug the 2 red and white cables from my bass unit directly to the soundcard nothing happens, when I try to plug my speakers 3.5mm cable directly to the sound card nothing happens , there is not even a dedicated speakers port on the sound card itself only
1. Front (R)
2. Front (L)
3. Side
4. Ctr
5. Rear
6. SPDIf
7. USB.

How can I connect my speakers to this thing? I still want my Realtek software to work while they are plugged to the sound card itself, would like some help.

Solution
if you plan to use the Xonar then Why do you want the realtek? and if the jacks used are from the xonar, you will never see then in the realtek
And, according to the Asus website, the Xonar only have 1 output for the Headset, this is the jack layout-> 4 x 3.5 mm jack (1x Headphone out / 1x Side out/1x Center-Subwoofer out/1x Rear out)
so you will need an home cinema system to work properly

Yes but as I said there is no like speaker drawing or something or some outlined green plug , just the ones I mentioned and when I plug it in either of them the sound just goes away , the only time it works is when I plug it in the headphones jack but then my realtek software does not recognize my speakers.
And how do I make the sound card my default audio?
Btw this is my soundcard: https://www.asus.com/Sound-Cards/Xonar_U7/

My plan was to connect my speakers and my headphones to the Xonar , but alas only plugging the headphones actually works.. if I plug my speakers to the headphones jack on the Xonar it just shows me that the headphones are plugged and my Realtek software does not even recognizes them.
