My screen goes black on both Nvidia & AMD cards

I am having a very persistent issue with my current build. When I start the PC, it posts, the screen comes on, and sometimes I can get to the login screen, other times the display driver will crash even before I get to the login screen, (screen goes solid black, but is still receiving input) while loading windows.

If it loads into windows, after a seemingly random amount of time (30 seconds - a few hours),
the screen will go black, and sometimes all of the processes will still be working (I can still hear people on skype calls that I'm in when it happens). I can leave it loaded into windows, just sitting on the desktop with no programs running and I will still get the black screen.

So far I have tried the following:
Replaced the Motherboard (originally a P6T SE (swapped it with a spare P6T v1)
Replaced the CPU (I had an extra i7 930)
I have run every stick of ram individually, (it still crashes)
I have replaced the 700w PSU with a 1300w one.
I have swapped out the SSD with windows 10 for an HDD with windows 8.1
I have swapped out the GTX 670 for a spare 670 I had
I swapped the GTX 670 for an AMD R9 290
I swapped monitors (they had their own DVI-D cables so different cables were tested too)
I removed all Sata cables except for the HDD
After all this, it still crashes with a black screen (no lack of input message from monitor, just solid black).

Here are the specs:
Tried both windows 10 & 8.1!
P6T (v1)
i7 930
12GB Mushkin ram
256GB SSD
80GB HDD
EVGA 1300w PSU
I have tried both (one at a time, while wiping the drivers of the other):
AMD R9 290
Nvidia GTX 670

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated
