Install Drivers from Asus or Intel?

Should I install drivers from the Asus website or the drivers from Intel for my motherboard and components?

My motherboard uses an Intel NIC for example, would it be best practice to take the driver directly from Intel or stick with the drivers provided by Asus? Same for Chipset?

I was thinking of taking the Intel drivers from Intel, Realtek from Realtek etc, but they're quite difficult to find, the Intel website is a mess.

Thanks!

I think it depends on your motherboard and the specific driver. I too have an ASUS motherboard - specifically the Maximus 6 Hero, and since ASUS published updated Windows 10 drivers for it, it's clear that those are the likely to be the last drivers they'll publish for my board. I'll stick with the audio drivers provided by ASUS because the audio solution on my board is more custom than a plain old Realtek codec, and the driver date actually appears to be slightly newer than what's on Realtek's website oddly enough - so I would imagine it a better idea perhaps in my case to stick with ASUS' driver. With the Intel NIC, though, there's nothing special about it and Intel has published newer versions of the driver, so I use Intel's and I've had no issues. I've also used an updated chipset driver from Intel with no issues. If your motherboard still has drivers actively published by ASUS, as I imagine their Z97 and certainly their Z170 still do, I would stick with those until updates stop, which judging from my board, a Z87 board, appears to be about 2 1/2 years roughly for an enthusiast platform. I hope that helps.
