Hi all,

I've recently upgraded my Packard Bell EasyNote adding 4Gb of RAM so I have now 8Gb total.

After adding the new RAM I've checked the System properties to see if the new bank was correctly recognized (Right click on "This PC" > Properties) and it reported correctly 8Gb.

Now I've just noticed in the Task manager that the system doesn't use all available memory but just a half!

What could be the problem?

Solution
Nothing wrong, the system just uses what it needs. You still show 3.7 GB's available. Open a bunch of tabs and you will see the memory usage increase.

Hi thanks for your responses.

@BadActor: actually I don't know, what should I look for?

@rgd1101: I've fixed it by disabling Chrome prefetching and Skype.exe permissions

I think it's weird it uses exactly 4,0Gb of memory with Chrome, VisualStudio and PhotoShop open. Is there a test or a benchmark to check if the memory will be used completely?

Ok :)

I have to say I looked again at the Task manager and now memory is 60% (4.7 Gb in use) so it's probably as you said, the system currently doesn't need 8Gb of memory.

Thanks
