Hey im looking to get a new gaming laptop for no more than $1,100. Ive come across a ASUS ROG GL551VW-DS71 with the follow specs for $1000:
Intel® Core™ i7-67000HQ
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960M with 4G GDDR5 VRAM
DDR4 2133 MHz SDRAM, 8 GB SDRAM
1TB HDD 7200 RPM
15.1" x 10.1" x 1.3" (WxDxH)

VS

MSI GE62 APACHE PRO-413 for $1,050 with the following specs:
Intel Core i7 5700HQ
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3GB GDDR5
128 GB SSD + 1TB 7200RPM
16 GB DDR3L 1600
15.07" x 10.23" x 1.06"

Now i do realize the MSI is way better for the $50 but i have no friends with either computer so im not sure of any major problems with either. So far im leaning towards the MSI.

Either will work great but from a gaming point of view the MSI is the best.
SSD + HDD is a must!
Windows on SSD + games on HDD.
970m is better than 960m and 3GB of GDDR5 is enough for that resolution.
Higher FPS on MSI laptop is also better for gaming and the reviews are great for both so now you decide!

I like the machine with SSD + HDD as well. In addition to above specs, GE62 has great sound performance because of its Dynaudio speakers and Nahimic sound enhancer. MSI is a better option.

I have a great experience of GE laptop of MSI.
from its appearance, it got the morsel line and with light and slim design.
as the high performance of its GPU, it can play most of the games nowadays.
besides, I love the keyboard with steelseires, which i can change my keyboard's color I want..

If I were you, i will not just compare the spec from each brand. Yes, ASUS ROG is good also, but MSI got many specific features that ASUS dose not have it.
