Migrated windows 10 from HDD to SDD, but it still boots from HDD (when it's connected)

So I just bought an Asus from Best Buy and immediately wanted to move windows to a Samsung SDD.

Installed the SDD and assigned it to volume "S" and formatted it with NTFS. All good.

I used Samsung's utility to clone the fresh install from the HDD to the SDD. All went well.

Went into the bios and changed the 'primary boot' to the SDD drive.

Problem is, when I load the PC, it still boots from the HDD.

If I unplug the HDD, it boots perfectly from the SDD (and very quickly, which is what I bought it for).

How do I delete what's on the HDD if I connect it then windows loads from the HDD??

Thanks guys. I did a bit of digging on a few forums and apparently this is a common issue with ASUS UEFI bios. I did change the boot order in the bios, but that change didn't go into effect for some reason. SSD showed as the first primary boot drive but it still used the HDD. Solution was to swap the SATA order (just swapped the data cables) so that the SSD was on SATA 0. HDD moved up to SATA 2 or 3.

When you went into the BIOS did you actually change the boot order or just use the boot override option? The latter only affects the current boot (i.e. one time override). Double check the BIOS Boot Order is actually changed to the SSD.

It's perfectly acceptable to have 2 drives that both have active partitions or even complete Windows installations on them. The BIOS boot order dictates which drive boots. I have 2 drives, one with Win7 and the other with Win10 installed, and they are not installed as a dual boot. I simply use the BIOS boot order to determine which drive boots.
