So I have a 50 ft cat 6 ethernet cable running from a modem down to a router. From here I connect wireless to my devices in the room.

The router is not getting any internet connection, however when I plug the cable directly into the PC it does work.

So I attempted to reset the router, and even after a reset the wireless does change names but the router still shows no internet connection.

Now when I went upstairs and using a laptop plugged the router into the modem using a different cable, and plugged the laptop into the router, I was able to setup the internet connection and then connect wirelessly.

So my only theory is that for some reason this 50ft cat6 cable cannot carry an internet connection from my modem ro my router (doesn't make sense to me as why this would be the case). Alternatively there is some setting on my PC that is preventing the internet connection from being setup correctly on the router? Still im baffled and really would like to figure this out.

I thought i needed a new router but since it worked with my laptop and a different cable I feel like there is some setting I can fix to remedy this situation.
