Does adding a second GPU reduce the strain on my primary GPU when using two monitors?

Hey there,
I am running a dual monitor setup connected via DVI to a Nvidia GTX 780.
Some games take Heavy strain on the card, and I enjoy watching amazon prime on my second screen whilst playing. Doing this drains my fps ingame; my CPU spikes to 100% (i5-2500k k OC 4,2ghz) in some cases aswell.

I was wondering whether running my GTX 780 and my old 560Ti together would reduce the strain on the gtx 780 running games. Quite a naive thought, but cant one gpu take care of google chrome, whilst the stronger one runs the games?
Thank you in advance.
I can provide further information if necessary.

Solution
Your CPU sonds like it's bottlenecking your system anyway. Even if you add the 560Ti, some tasks will still need your CPU rather than GPU so your CPU will still spike. The best solution would be to upgrade your CPU to haswell or skylake.
