Hi all, i was wondering if there's any sense in changing my i5 4670k to newer Skylake i5 6400?
My chip is not the best, running it 4.4 GHz @ 1.24v, can get to 4.5 but @ 1.28v which doesn't make sense, no difference apart from heat. 16 Gb ram 2133 Mhz.
Would i5 6400 overclocked to ~4.5 Ghz(non k chip but overclockable with BCLK) and some faster ram(let's say 2666 Mhz) be noticeably faster?
is overclocking with bclk(@125Mhz) any worse than traditional multiplier overclock?
Selling my cpu+mobo+ram bundle and getting same for Skylake would cost me around £100 extra, main question is if the theoretical gain is worth that price?
thx

Solution
Intel has shut down non "K" BCLK overclocking.
I would not try anyway.

Your cpu is still very good; spend your money elsewhere.

If you really want to improve the cpu, do nothing less than a i5-6600K with a good overclock.
