I'm a total novice diving into gaming, so I've got a lot of enthusiasm but a lot more ignorance!

I expected lots of games would offer options to use multiple monitors, be that spreading the playing field across 2 or 3 screens and/or putting maps and inventory lists and stuff on a 2nd screen. Is this wrong?

Thanks

Supreme commander 2 supports multiple monitors.
But otherwise extremely few games do.
Multiple monitors is best utilized to watch youtube while also having a full screen game, or having like a walkthrough up on the other screen, or having system monitor software, ect.

If you ahve 3 monitors, typically people combine them into a one resolution and then playing driving games where they have a wider field of view.

Nope don't think that exists quite yet since transferring screens would be difficult on fps games, more monitors just make multitasking easier.

surprisingly few, or I am just not seeing the option. Most of the games that benefit are WW2 dogfighting sims, so you'd have screens showing the left and right peripheral so you don't have to pan the camera, or for the harder core sims, display the control panels. So basically just panning the normal display across several monitors.

I never do this, I use mine for browsing the internet during games, showing statistics, teamspeak control, forums, etc
