Is this a Good Gaming PC Build?

I'm a first time pc builder. I want my computer to be able to achieve at least 60fps in most games at 1440p resolution. I also plan to oc my cpu to 3.9ghz. Will this be a good build for what I am looking for? Any recommendations? I am trying to keep the build around $2000. Thanks!

Looks good to me might want to get a monitor that can get more than 60fps in case you want to go higher than that on 1080p or something like that, should get your 1440p 60fps numbers though.

Looks good. Why the reference design 980 ti? You can get better cooling for cheaper unless you are planning to water cool with a custom loop.

Build looks okay not sure you need 16GB of RAM, but all looks fine w/o checking to see if all fits in the case.

I think at this stage with that budget its one or the other, because QHD 144hz monitors are quite pricy.
I'd personally go for the Asus VQ248QE, good quality monitor with solid colour quality. 144hz 1080p, but 1440p isn't much of an increase if you can only hit medium graphics on a reference imo. Will essentially look the same as 1080p maxed. The Gigabyte G1 Gaming is probably the best price-performance 980ti out there atm. Go with that

You should be able to do better than 3.9Ghz for your cpu. ;-) I would hold of a little longer on this build because I have to believe the 980Ti is going to get a substantial discount after Pascal is near release. I would also like to see what Pascal brings to the table as well. I would also be thinking about 1440p, 144Hz, and IPS if you can spend a little more. If you are going nvidia, G-sync would be on my wishlist as well. As for the reference cooler, that is the way I would go if you plan on dual gpus. One more thing, RM PSU would not be my first or second choice - look at EVGA, Seasonic, or XFX.

I would say that in terms of value, definitely. The G1 Gaming 980ti outperforms the MSI gaming plain and simple, but in terms of the MSI Lightning card, that is far superior, but also comes with a heftier price tag and questionable aesthetics if you're not going for a yellow and black build.
