best way to store cpu

whats the best way to store a cpu while i wait for my new motherboard, probably be a week or so. right now i have it in the plastic that my headset came in and i have it face up stored on my shelf with another piece over the lid so it doesn't get dust. thanks

if it was a oem tray cpu that the best you can do it place it where wont get damaged or zaps with esd. if it was a retail intel or amd cpu you should put it back in the plastic cpu case for safty.

I recommend you put it in the tray it was and if it was in the box, put it in there.

You could also buy tiny ziploc-like bags which fit in a CPU nicely.

Put it in a dust free box/case away from anywhere it can get knocked around. Atleast it doesn't have any pins you have to worry about bending.

since it is an intel witout the pins you could almost put it in/on anything that is really exccessively clean and hopefully you wont damage the contacts. placing it upside down with a lint free towel over top for a short period might work. also if you are going to be handling it for a fairly long time id suggest gloves. they keep static at bay and also keep the oils from your hands off the delicate cpu contacts.
