I'm looking to run video editing software Adobe After effects and premiere

not sure if my motherboard on this brand new laptop will accept NVMe m.2 cards, for the sake of this conversation, let's say it won't ....so I'm getting a standard m.2 sata 256 gb (probably the Samsung 850 evo if that's the best)

If not the best, any recommendations?

OS is on the hdd for now, i plan to clone/migrate it over to the m.2 sata ssd and then wipe the hdd clean

WOuld i get greater speed and performance if i removed the hdd and replaced with an ssd and use that to store projects/data from the adobe software?

If so, would it be a big difference or not?

wondering if that would help read/write speeds as the data would be saved to the ssd

I would just remove the hdd and sell it somehow

here is the system:

asus gl552vw
Intel Core i7-6700HQ Processor 2.6GHz
Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit
16GB DDR4 RAM
1TB 7,200RPM Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 2GB GDDR

Solution
Yes, having 2 SSD's is preferable to an SSD + HDD. If and only if your budget allows for the required drive size.
Obviously, an SSD is more expensive than the HDD.

if the NVMe ssd that i bought does not work with my laptop, that will allow me to get 2 sata ssd drives for a little more than the cost of the NVMe

It is preferable to find out if it works before purchasing. But if you already have it, try it.

lol....I know. I confirmed with asus support that yes, it was supported and would work, but after installing and not able to get the laptop to recognize it, i contacted support again ........and another rep tells me it is not supported

I'm trying to find out myself by identifying the motherboard using cpu-z but that is becoming a frustrating problem as well as I'm not finding much information about the motherboard online to tell me if it should be able to support an NVMe ssd card

not sure why they make this so hard
