Low CL or High clock?

Hello everyone!

When worth get low CL memory with medium clock instead a memory with high CL and High clock?

For example:
DDR4 2400Mhz CL12 VS DDR4 3000Mhz CL16?
DDR4 2400mhz CL12 VS DDR4 2800Mhz CL16?
wich one is better?

when memory clock "override" CL or CL "override" clock speed?

theres an article on here some where about ddr4 scaling

the sweet spot price to performance seems to be 2400--2666mhz with lower latency like cl14--15

im asking because i already have HyperX Savage 2400mhz with CL12. but im already saw alot of other memories with higher clock with much higher latency costing less.

2400mhz cl12 is a pretty good choice really

It depends on the CPU as well, but 2400MHz DDR4 CL12 is pretty good so I'd keep it.

(I don't know why you didn't just compare 2400 CL12 vs 2800 CL16, because 2800 CL16 and 3000 CL16 won't be much different)

Really? At least? Where did you show that? (other than AIDA memory tests that aren't indicative of any programs I know of)

*okay, they gained 1FPS, from 119FPS to 120FPS going from 2666 to 2800MHz at same CL.

Handbrake can use most of the processing threads, and it doesn't matter much there either:

Maybe there are other scenarios where it really matters?

Seems simple, but it's more confusing on close inspection.

If confused err on the side of caution for faster CPU's:

a) 2666MHz or higher, and
b) CL16 or lower

(1/Clock)*CL = True latency (ns)

Memory 2400mhz CL 12:
(1 / 2.400) * 12 = 5ns

Memory 3000mhz cl 16
(1/3.000) * 16 = 5.33ns

wich means a 2400mhz cl 12 memory is faster than 3000mhz cl 16 memory

another example:
2666mhz CL16 memory

(1/2.666) * 16 = 6ns

3200mhz CL16 Memory
(1/3200) * 16 = 5ns (same performance as 2400mhz cl12 memory)
