Hello, so I had help with getting a computer (link below) cause I know nothing about building a pc or putting them together. I ended up being told that for idling my gpu idles a little high, according to HWMonitor my gtx 970 idles at 60-62c. I'm just curious if anyone has any suggestions to lower it down some or could it be idling that high due to three monitors? If so anyway to lower it while still using my monitors?

Now I was told to download MSI afterburner and to set a custom fan curve, personally I don't know what a good fan curve is so I'm using the default. It turned the fan speed to 44% and it dropped it down from 60-64c average to about 35-38c. Should I leave it at the default fan curve or do my own?

Default seems to be 30c = 40% - 50c = 50% - 80c - 80% - 90c = 90%

Thanks in advance

The Strix, like a lot of GTX970 cards, turns its fans off under light load or idle, you're seeing normal temperatures for your configuration.
You could add dual front intake fans to improve overall airflow and temperatures, though. Several manufacturers like Corsair (AF series) and Noctua make virtually silent parts in both 120 and 140mm sizes.

Check that rear fan is connected to the motherboard, if so, make a note of the header it is connected to (they are numbered) reboot the system and get into the BIOS, there check it has been enabled and it's not set to zero speed. If it's not connected, power down and connect it to a spare 3 pin (maybe 4 pin, depends on MB layout) header, power up, get into the BIOS and set its speed there.

You could put in another case fan or two, but there is no guarantee that doing that will help that much, as the number of case fans past 3 does not do much. I would set up a custom fan curve.

Any advice with a custom fan curve? Also I did not put the PC together, I noticed however my 2nd fan the one in pic 3 is not running but the top on in pic 4 is. I was told I could download speedfan an see if I can get it moving.

but as for the fan curve I have no idea what a proper fan curve would be. New to all of this.

The trick to setting up fan curves is to find the right level of noise and heat for you. Mess around a little bit, figure out where you want your temps to be, then see if you can stand the noise.
