Does the Asus H170 PLUS support i5 6500?

Hello there.

Is the H170 PLUS good (I'm spending approx £800 on a PC excluding monitor, case and software) and does it work with the i5-6500?

It does work with the I5-6500. As to whether it is "good" or not, motherboards don't really affect performance in any notable way. As long as it has the connectors you want, ports and everything, just get it. If you manage to find a professional review of it online, they'll hopefully go over the VRM in which you can see the quality of it. But when buying a board from Gigabyte, Asus, MSI, and Asrock, you won't get junk.
