I've been thinking really hard pc vs console, I chose pc for many reasons. I currently do not have a working PC as both my Intel Duo and AMD Phenom mobo took a crap. Both socket 775 (intel) and socket AM2 replacement mobo are expensive to where I can get a new cpu and board for the dame price. I need help picking out the best GPU $200 can buy. Also, need a nice pairing of either new or used CPU/mobo. I want to game on my Samsung 50" TV from the comfort of my couch as well as use it for light photoshop and other online activities. What do you guys recommend?

You could go used and get a decent R9 280X for $160. Or if you aren't comfortable buying a used GPU, then you could get a new GTX 960 (similar performance) for about $30 more.

What is the budget for your CPU/motherboard?

If I can't use my spare parts from either pc I have. I'm looking to spend around $400-$500 total. I have a cool master case which I can use and add more fans to save some money. I want the gpu to play at 1080 with latest games. I don't care about the ultra settings, medium to high is ok with me. Anything better than console

You could use an SSD for the OS and your current hard drive for mass storage. Also if your case is in good condition, then you could make use of it.
