External HDD USB(2.0) not recognized by windows 7

I have a HDD which I have put into a external HDD casing to make it portable and it work perfectly on my laptop which has windows 8.1 Pro But the same HDD is not recognized by my PC which have windows 7 Professional.
When I plug the usb cable just HDD's light glow but there is no action in my PC not even it give a notification icon on taskbar.
Is there any solution?

Is the drive even spinning up when attached to the Win 7 machine? Have you checked Disk Management and Device Manager? In case it is recognized by Disk Management, see if it has letter assigned.

When a drive is recognized by one Win OS but not from another, there's a chance that this is caused by a driver related issue. So, you can just go to your MOBO's manufacturer website and update your USB drivers. After that, you can go to Device Manager(in case it is recognized over there) -> Uninstall the device -> plug it out -> reboot system -> plug it back in and wait to automatically install drivers.

Thank you so much for the tips! I just plugged it in the back port of my PC and it got detected and is now working perfect!
