Hi,

Will Corsair VS450 450W be sufficient for this build:

  • - Asus B150M-A MB
    - 8GB DDR4-2666 Kingston HyperX Fury RAM
    - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD Solid State Disk
    - Asus GeForce GTX950 2GB video card
    - Corsair Carbide Series 100R cabinet
    - High Definition Audio soundcard
    - Asus 24x DVD-R/W
    - Windows 10

    [Optional] 1 TB Seagate Barracude (7200 rpm, 6 GB/s)

Also, could you provide some general comments on this PSU? I've read in here that Corsairs low-to-mid-range PSUs are of poor quality regarding components and promised wattage.

Thanks!

They're slightly above average units at best, they're not firestarters but their build quality just isn't up to par to units like the Antec ECO, earthwatts and seasonic units due to the quality of their capacitors.

If you're hard pressed for cash then go for it but if you can afford it go for the aforementioned units above.

your motherboard supports only 2133 Mhz , so unless you are getting it at cheaper or same price , opt for a 2133 mhz one . 2666 will work fine, but downgraded to 2133 mhz in your build.

Could you elaborate on what it wold mean (in practice) to run 2666 MHz RAM in a 2166 MHz supported MB?

It will automatically downclock the RAM into the speed supported by the chipest.
