Hi,

So I'm trying to build a gaming pc and since it's been a while since I've been doing pretty much anything pc related I thought I'd ask your opinion.
I know "future proof" is a hot topic and I get why it's next to impossible to predict the future in the pc world. That being said I still want to at least try and build one that will last some years.
So far I've got the following build in mind;

i7 6700K or i5 6600K
Noctua NH-D14
asus z170 pro gaming
8 or 16gb kingston hyper fury 2166
Corsair Carbide 100R
Corsair Air series AF120 quiet TP x 2
Corsair VS650 V2 - 650W PSU
And I've got the harddrives - ssd and mechanic.

Now the question is how to go about the graphics and I'm thinking one of 2 solutions. Run with a KFA Geforce GTX 950 EX OC W 2G until we probably see the new pascal based GPU's late this year and then upgrade to one of the high end models. Or get a Asus Geforce GTX 970 strix and then at some point get another and go SLI.

I very much look forward to your inputs and thank you all in advance.

Edit: Also I think I posted this in the wrong category probably should be under components, sry.

Many people think future proofing . Well it's just going to cost you more money in the long run and by the time your going to upgrade , something better has already came out .
I will recommend a Cryorig H5 Universal as the company is the best in the industry and this model has zero ram inference.
I would stay away from Corsair line of power supplies as they are poor quality . Please refrain from them for those products and buy a EVGA G2 or any seasonic
I would definitely settle for the 950 and upgrade later on, unless the 980ti works with your budget

Thank you.
I will definitely take your advice regarding both PSU and cooler and look around for something else. But I'll admit I thought the 80 plus certification ensured a well made product.
Yeah the 980TI is a bit out of budget for right now that is why I thought either 950 and upgrade or the SLI - and I think I might be kinda leaning towards getting the 950 too.
What are your thoughts on the i5 6600K or the i7 6700K? I'm mostly thinking the i5 based on info from forums and such.

Well correct me if I'm wrong but the i7 do have an edge in some games according to my research. I know both CPUs are probably a bit overkill for running a GTX 950 I just want to make sure that I can run whichever card I upgrade too (probably pascal) without any bottleneck issues.
I'm also thinking if I'm not going to run SLI wouldn't a quality z97 board be well suited? Thanks again.

True , But If You're a Video Editor As Well , Core i7 is Required for better performance in editing :)

Thank you for the answers.

I have been looking at the GTX 980 TI but even if I do push the budget and get it I'm left with a monitor issue. I probably should have mentioned this before to be taken into consideration but I only have an 1680x1050 monitor. Since I can't afford a new screen together with the 980, I'm thinking the 950 and get the money for both and upgrade later on may be the best option?

As far as the CPU goes I'm really not doing any editing as of now. I'll will take your points into consideration and probably get a 6600K and OC this at some point - A z97 mobo should be fine for this right?
