Hello,

As I am not so familiar with older generation cpu's, I wonder what would be the best cpu upgrade for the family computer. And if it is worth to upgrade the current cpu.

Current cpu: E5200, 2,5ghz pentium dual core.
Current motherboard: https://www.asus.com/be-nl/Motherboards/P5KPLAM/HelpDesk_CPU/
-> asus pk5pl am , supports almost every lga 775 cpu.

Responding is greatly appreciated :)

This motherboard supports CORE 2 QUAD , DUO series .The core 2 quad q6600 or higher if affordable is best upgrade for you.Its a QUAD core nice and good performing still today.S o my recommendation is Buy Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 at least it will be alot better than Pentium D E5200...

Best processors that motherboard will accept are the Intel Core2Extreme X6800, Intel Core2Duo E6700, and Intel Core2Duo E6600.

Recommendation: Intel Core2Duo E6700.
