Hey there again, lynnicicle!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the WD Blue. :( I'd now advise you to try the drive in another computer and see how it will get detected there. If the problem persists, you should check the warranty on the HDD since all other drives you have tested are working properly in the system.
If it's still under warranty, you should be able to send an RMA request to our Customer Support either by phone or e-mail. Make sure you have backed up any important data from the WD Blue beforehand in order to avoid any potential data loss.

Best of luck!

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, lynnicicle!

I'd recommend you to try resolving your HDD detection issue by resetting BIOS. I'd also suggest you connect that particular hard drive to a different computer and see if it will get recognized there. Do the other SATA HDDs get properly recognized, though?

Maybe you also want to check your motherboard manufacturer's website and manually update the SATA controller & chipset drivers for your model from there.

Keep me posted & Good luck!

Hi, Ive updated the BIOS, I have tried setting it to IDE instead of AHCI.
I've switched cables out, different ports. BIOS reads my optical drive just fine, on any port.
It sometimes reads the hard drive, at least in the boot section of BIOS (doesnt seem to pick it up under storage options though). I have tried all 4 hard drives that I own, all of which do work on my other computer just fine. Crazy thing is, it's read the drive at times without me making any changes, just shutting things off and walking away for a bit. It is just on this build that I am having issues.
Specs for anyone interested.
ASROCK Fatal1ty 990FX Killer motherboard
AMD 8350
WD Blue 1TB hard drive
Corsair Vengance DDR3 (24 GB total)
Solid Gear 650 Watt power supply
