xbox 360 controller

My xbox 360 controller was working fine until today, I played 2 or 3 matches of fifa and than kept some files for downloading and when I came back my pc says usb not recognized. In device manager it says unknown device, along with xbox controller I also inserted a generic controller so I thought that would be the problem and uninstalled its drivers but no luck.
I tried it in other computers it shows the same problem.
One thing I noticed is while inserting the xbox controller only 3 lights flash the player 1 lights does not flashes. Thank you in advance guyz.

EDIT: I noticed wire is frayed near the cable boot could that be the reason?

It's probably broken if it won't connect to any computer. You can try putting in batteries (wireless), but most likely it's time to upgrade to an xbox one controller (better anyway, but is more expensive)

Sorry for the late reply..you were right it probably broken but can you help me with buying a new controller 360 not one, one is out of my budget most of the controller I can find are chinese knock offs.
