intel r 82578dc gigabit network connection disabled windows 10

I have new Ethernet since October, new netgear modem, older netgear router. Doing fine till feb 18 this year now get this error.

I use the routers commands to find and fix, and after a couple minutes get connected.

Cannot find any windows 10 drivers for my system, even though the intel tool says i need to download them, as i have NO drivers. ???

Get them from your motherbd's support site. Which motherbd do you have?

intel dh55dc, i checked there first as it says their tool said i needed to update to windows 10, 64bit* drivers. When i clicked the update icon, nothing happened. Also in that same utility i was only able to view the top half on my screen no matter what i did.

I just dont think its a driver issue as it worked fine till 2/18. It happened again yesterday and the modem wasnt hot. Ive put in on the net gear forum for help but havent any responses.

Looking at the events it also shows skype events happening. I dont use skype at all. Not sure that has anything to do with it. Right now as i type this, the typing stall out and then puts in a sentence. I dont understand whats going on.

I have the netgear modem and a netgear router. Yesterday i found out that the modem, even listed as only a modem is also a router. When i try to access the modem online i get my router instead of the modem. I investigated the modem further and it says to use it just as a bridge to my router, yet I cannot access the modem menu to set up a bridge.

Im not sure that will help, but will try anything. My modem is off the 90 day help as of 1/23/16 but still have the year and extended on it. Not sure if i need to return it for a new one. I just dont have any experience here. thank you
