So Im spending up to get a 980Ti. My question is what kinda difference in performance can I expect to see if I go with the "Zotac 980Ti Amp Extreme" over the "MSI 980Ti Gaming 4G"?

January issue of Maximum PC said the Zotac was above and beyond any other card, and was able to "crush" the graphics on any game they threw at it. In USD the cost between the two cards isn't that much, up here in 2nd Rate Canada the price difference is about 450 rainbow dollars. I don't mind spending the extra cash as long as Im getting something of value, which MaximumPC pointed out as being the factoryOC on the card and the ram, better heatsink etc.

Thoughts/opinions would be be greatly appreciated!

Graphics card vendors are wise to overclocking.
They bin their chips and use the best ones in their factory overclocked cards.
Then they add fancy coolers so they can sell the cards for a premium price.
I do not know what you would pay for each.
But one metric of capability would be the boost clock.
The Zotac has a boost clock of 1355.
By comparison, the MSI is 1228.
Is that difference really important?
Perhaps not at any resolution less than 4k.
And, look at the EVGA GTX980tiFTW with a boost of 1291, perhaps that price may be more attractive to you.

Look at TH German site for comparison at different resolutions and games.

I'm not sure what you mean about the price difference, but there's only like $20 difference between the two:

Here's a review where you can see the performance of the MSI and Zotac cards compared:
http://www.legitreviews.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-ti-video-card-roundup-asus-msi-and-zotac_176648/6

Looks like the Zotac performs around 5% better, which is about what you'd expect given thee difference in their core/boot clocks.

Wow...$450 price difference? In no way ever is it worth that much difference, if that isn't a typo. Also, you mean gaming 6g or 980 gaming 4g, I don't think they make a 4g 980 ti?

If you mean 6G, it would be worth maybe a $30- $50 difference IF you were not going to overclock it yourself. Otherwise it's very simple to just use afterburner and increase the clocks to those of the amp extreme or higher if you want. Both of them are custom pcb so you do get the better components and such over the reference board.

Here's the performance over 20 or so games at different resolutions, both are stock clockspeeds out of the box and have not been overclocked. If you mean the 6g, if not can you provide a link to the 4G you're seeing?
