What is best way to migrate data from current hdd to my new systems hdd an ssd

I'm soon to build a new gaming rig(new motherboard,cpu,power supply etc). Currently all my data is on a 1TB wd blue HDD. My new system will have a SSD to boot off but i also want it to use my 1TB wd blue HDD, as its still perfectly functional an has all my data on it including Windows 10. So whats the best way about getting Windows OS onto the SSD, removing it off the HDD an be able to keep all my data on the HDD an use it in the new rig. Mainly the 250GB of games, pictures, bookmarks an if possible my homescreen layout an icons. I assume theres a somewhat simple way of doing this? But i couldnt find anything specific for what im trying to do.Any help is appreciated.

Notes:
I have Windows 10, not an oem version, store bought of which i have the license key an install disc.
the SSD is the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
all my game data is from steam an its really the only thing i care most about porting over to my new system as it would take days to re download it all off steam.

All of your data on the hard drive will still be there when you reattach it to your new build.
You can use windows easy transfer to export your settings to a file on the hard drive.
After you install windows on the new build ssd, you can import those settings and reattach your hard drive.
Since you have a clean new registry, your apps and programs will need to be reinstalled.
For steam games, there is a way to do this move.
There may be an activation issue if your os is oem which is tied to your motherboard.
Because you have a new motherboard, you will need a new copy of windows.

Are you on windows 10 or 7?

If you buy a Samsung ssd of sufficient capacity, they have a free app that will clone your hard drive to a ssd.

I doubt you'll be able to do that.
1) You can't migrate the OS to a different drive and expect its registry to know where stuff is on the old HDD. OS and programs are installed as a system. You can check with the migration software that comes with some SSDs to see if they have a work-around solution, but no guarantees.
2) If you are getting a new motherboard, there will be many problems trying to boot to the old Win installation because it installed itself based on the components it found on the original motherboard.

I have the windows install disc an key for my copy. Is it possible for me to somehow get my games, pics, an other data off the hdd, like say to a external drive. then wipe an reformat the hdd. put the ssd an hdd in the new sytem. install windows an then use the external drive to import my games an other data back into the hdd?
