So my hardware apart from my gtx 960 is around 4 years old now and my computer needs an upgrade, I need a setup that will go well with the 960 and help run games smoothly. Thanks to anyone who has input ! :)

something like this , however would require at least moderate o/c in order to keep up .! well, since practically building from scratch wouldnt suggest amd right now as it is a dead platform and ''Zen'' isnt that far fom now. if you are so eager to do an upgrade , go with intel. @TJ Hooker's suggestions are pretty good. !

I actually was thinking of a similar build to your second link, im iffy on the ram but I can sort that out myself, I wonder what kind of AMD build would be needed to kind of perform on the same level :/

Oh really? I havent heard of Zen before, i'll have to go read up on it but honestly I just kinda want to get this thing running on new components in the next few months, im not in a rush to do it under a week or something. If I found out about AMD's new CPU's and wait it out, I might jsut get a decent build idk yet, and yeah agreed the intel build he suggested was pretty solid ngl.

I haven't been keeping up on the latest news/rumours about Zen, but last I heard it's only due out late this year/early next year unfortunately. So you'd be in for a pretty good wait.

FYI, if you're looking to save money, even an i3 would be enough for your GTX 960. But an i5 will last longer before you have to upgrade, particularly if you get the 6600k.
