I am experiencing serious overheating problems with my PC - and old model from the Windows Vista era given to me to fix for my personal use as a project of sorts.

I was wondering - will a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO fit in my case? I feel it will help the temperature - the fan has been really loud anyway.

theres room for an intake in that old case - I can see the grill at the front plain as day.
Upto you but I personally wouldnt drop money on a new case for an old core2quad setup.
that aidos cooler will do the job straight away- its oos now though ,I did say to grab one straight away at that price!

If you really must put money into a new case this is cheap as chips & comes with 2x120mm fans.

apart from the fact it has 120mm fans rather than 80mm its not...

But will it fit in my old case? Bear in mind that the CPU has been reaching temps of over 90°C according to RealTemp and Speccy, is this due to a faulty cooler or possibly something else?

If I was you i would personally get a new case first. by the looks of things you have very little airflow in your system, you only have 1 exhaust fan and 1 intake and that's the CPU. Get a new case that has has at least 1 exhaust fan and 1 intake fan in the front.

By the looks of things there is very little room for fitting a front fan in the current case and the exhaust fan you go have looks to be 80mm . Find a case that has 120mm fan on the front and a 120mm on the back, extra fan mounts are always welcome. What is your price range/budget for upgrading ?

Well do you want looks, quality or just pure function ? You could easy get a case from ebay for £20 -£25 and try and get one with some sort if fans included which is what I did back in 2011 when I started to get into Computer and gaming. You could then spend the additional £25 on extra fans and a cooler! I currently have a personally modded Zalman Z11 Plus

apart from the fact it has 120mm fans rather than 80mm its not a great step up from what you have.

now youve missed the aidos deal consider the s40 instead.

IM running an i5 3470 on one of these & its not seem above 52c under prime stress testing.

Its middling build quality at best but for the money incredibly impressive value.

He will have to checkt to see if there is room inside the front of the face plate. There doesn't look lie a whole load of room behind the HDD but he may be able to fit one in their but it won't help with cooling that much. You'd only get another 80mm fan in there and it depends if his PSU or MOBO supports extra connections for powering another fan :) I can see a Molex and possibly a SATA?
