Hi, my local hardware store is selling a second hand MSI N770 for £170

The Gigabyte GTX 960 4GB OC is going for around £165.

The MSI card is older but has more shader cores and memory bandwidth according to gpuboss.com

Which card do i go for?
Is the older gpu worse?
Will the 960 be better in the future?

The gigabyte card could be changed for say another 960 4gb, for a better overclock or slight better performance, or even slightly less performance to save a few quid.

I need to run BF4 at High settings, 60ps. Maybe GTA 5 at similar specs but with things like shade and grass quality set to low or something.

Any help much appreciated :)

The 960 4GB is slower than the 770 4GB by about 10%. It can be overclocked though to equal a 770. I would always choose a newer slightly slower card than a used older slightly faster card.

Oh and you can always get a second 960 4GB card as budget allows and SLI that little brother to the 970 and get near 980 performance!

That option would be on my short list for a build over time where I couldn't afford a $450(US) GPU up front. It's exactly why I have 970 in SLI. I could only afford one at a time. But I'm loving them still after nearly two years of ownership!
