Hi

Thats why I suggested getting Hirens Boot CD

http://www.hiren.info/

Test Hard drive
run checkdsk on hard drive

then report back results

Hi

If you have a old Dell pc then use a Dell xp recovery cd to repair or install XP

Dont use other brands of recovery disk to re install windows xp as there will be problems activating window

except Microsoft system builder oem XP cd or MS retail CD which may be expensive

But first check hard disk is not physically damaged
Look for bios option to test hard drive or download Hirens boot cd and run seagate bootable diagnostics (even if another brand of hdd)
Or load mini XP then wd datalifeguard 4 windows
Again can test any brand of hdd

If disk passes tests then see if chkdsk on hdd finds & fixes errors

Hi

...the problem is that we lost..everything thats what i basically mean and the disk is not damaged physically and i cant even boot to windows..i tried going into to bios for checking the hdd but theres no option there..so basically its now either doing something by disk or by flash drive if u wanted me to do something about checking the disk
