I just installed Windows 8.1 a couple of hours ago since then ive been installing my drivers etc, one problem I have had before when I installed Windows 7. I have a Zotac GTX 770 which im trying to connect my monitor to, but like I said it says "Cable Not Connected". I have installed GeForce Experience and updated the driver from there, I cant find a driver from the zotac website, I really need help otherwise when I play games I wont get a decent FPS, I will only get the FPS in which my Onboard Graphics can handle. Thanks! *UPDATE* by the way its connected by VGA from my acer monitor to a VGA converter of some sort I believe.

Solution
Go to your BIOS, then MB Intelligent Tweaker, then IGX Configuration, then change Internal Graphics Mode to Disabled. Press F10 to save changes and then try to boot with your GPU hooked up to your monitor.

You are correct, The only difference is I have moved from Windows 7 Home to Windows 8.1 Pro. Always been VGA... This happened when I first got windows 7 on the same PC, but I don't know how I fixed it or whatever, all I know right now is that the onboard graphics card is some sort of amd one, and on the device manager it used to say its full name "AMD A or whatever" but now it says "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". Thanks

Nope. Instead of my monitor saying cable not connected it just goes to screensaver mode where the screen turns off and the light on the front of the monitor pulses.

Nope. Still nothing :( Tried moving mouse etc. Nvidia drivers didn't make a difference, I also realised that it says No Signal, then goes onto screensaver.

Nope only one... I remember having a sort of AMD ATI driver display thing that used to run in the background when I was on windows 7... But now when I use the AMD Driver installer it doesn't actually install anything. And the fact that the AMD Onboard graphics doesn't appear on the device manager anymore and has been replaced by the Basic Display adapter or whateve its called... :(

Ive been told to do that but. If I do that. and disable the onboard one, and it doesn't fix the gpu not showing anything, then what do I do to get the onboard one to be enabled again?

Ok so. The Microsoft Basic Display Driver. I disabled it, it made no difference, the screen didn't even go black, so now, the onboard graphics/motherboard or whatever isn't even appearing in the device manager! I even went as far as to uninstalling the Microsoft basic display driver and restarting my system,
