Hello,

I am having a problem in windows 10 with the transfer speeds from and to my external hard drives. I have 8 USB 3.0 ports and 4 External Seagate hard drives ranging from 4-8TBs. I sued to get 170-180 MB/s transfer speeds.

Since installing windows 10, they start at that speed and trickle down to about 27-28MB/s. Once again, this probleem didnt start untill updgrading to windows 10.

I have already tried going to device manager and changing and seeting policies to better peformance, but no change. Also, all drivers are up to date.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey there again, Bryan!

If multiple devices don't work properly in that USB 3.0 host controller, then it's most probably failing. (Since all the external hard drives work properly on the other 3.0 Hub controller) I'd recommend you to check the warranty on your motherboard and contact the manufacturer's customer support if it's still covered. They should be able to assist you and possibly provide you with a replacement.

Best of luck!:)

Which ones should I remove. There is a lot listed under USB controllers in Device Manager. 5 Generic USB Hubs, Intel(R) Series/C200 Series Chipset Famiyl USB Enhances Host Controller - 1C2D, Intel(R) Series/C200 Series Chipset Famiyl USB Enhances Host Controller - 1C26, Renesas USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 0.96 Microsoft (listed twice, SuperSpeed USB Hub (Non-Functional), Unknown USB Device (Device Failed Enumeration, USB Composite Device, USB Mass Storage Device, USB Root Hub (listed Twice), USB root Hub (XHI( listed twice)

Hey there, Bryan!

I'd recommend you try connecting the external HDD to a different USB port on your computer and also try using a different USB cable. If these swaps don't work, then go Device manager and uninstall all your USB hub controller drivers. Once you do that, go to the motherboard/computer manufacturer's website and find your model there. When you select your OS version, a list of all the available drivers & utilities for your mobo/PC should appear. Make sure you manually update the drivers for your USB ports from there, rather than letting Windows Updates take care of them.

You should also consider backing up all your data from the external HDD somewhere else before proceeding with the troubleshooting. I'd also test its health and SMART status using the HDD manufacturer's brand-specific diagnostic tool.

Good luck!

Hello Everyone,

I still can not resolve the issues. Some drives are transfering now as low as 15mb/s-30mb/s. I tried uninstalling drivers and letting windows reinstall. My motherboard doesn't have updated drivers for windows 10. I used USB Tree viewer to see what the issue appears it be. IT looks like my 4 Hard drives connected through usb 3.0 ports are not showing under the USB 3.0 host controller. They are shown being plugged in to an Intel USB 3.0 controller (Generic USB Hub) instead.

Any ideas?
