I was given a Dell 1720/dn Mono Laser Printer. I have a new Dell laptop running windows 8.1. How do I get the driver. I have tried the Dell website and they say that they do not support this printer any longer. Another site wanted to charge me $39.99 (driverdr.com or vica-versa, I've already unstalled all that).

How can I get a driver on my new computer for this printer?

Solution
Try installing the Win 7 drivers (http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/dell-1720dn/drivers?os=w764), it might work as-is.

If it doesn't work, just replace the printer since it was a cheap thing to begin with! You can get https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/details/printers/black-and-white-laser/mf212w for just $100, not that expensive and it gives you scan+copy functionality to boot. Hell, that thing has USB, ethernet, and even wireless connectivity.
