The i5 6600k is good enough. In fact, the GTX960 is comparably weak compared to ANY i5.

You could save even more money by getting an i5 6500.

GTX960 (GPU) compared to an I5 (CPU) ?! Wat.

6600K is good enough, it's actually high end for gaming. If you get a decent PSU and motherboard, you can overclock the 6600K, if you get lucky with the chip and overclock it higher than the 6700's clockspeed, it'll be better for most games than the 6700.

I'd say go for the 6600K, hyperthreading isn't really worth it for gaming (it might become more useful with DX12, but even then that 6600K will be just fine).

Is your system purely just for gaming or is it going to be used for tasks such as video editing or streaming as well?
If it's just for gaming then an i5 would do just fine-make sure if you get the K version that your mobo can overclock otherwise it's just a waste.
If you have more demanding uses in mind for your system then an i7 could prove to be a significantly better choice.
