I use to have an Asrock H81M DGS motherboard where I overclocked the pentium to 4Ghz at 1.280v and upgraded to the MSI Z97S SLI Krait edition motherboard and overclock the pentium at the same core voltage as on the previous board, does that mean my chip is a bad chip for overclocking ?

It's not a good one(but it might not be a bad one, I don't know how the bell curve on the 3258 looks). I've had two, first died(in a botched de-lidding job that including Liquid Metal Ultra), it reached 4.2 at 1.24, and the second(which I still run), reaches 4.4 at 1.18.
Good news, it's a cheap chip, and shortening it's life with a higher voltage over-clock is not going to bring about the downfall of humanity.
