Hello guys , so i wanted to do a clean install of win 10 on my 1 tb disk , i have two partitions , partition a for windows and partition b for data. Now when i want to install it tells me that my disk isnt gpt ans that it needs gpt to install. I saw the most used way that was cleaning up aall the disk and then converting to gpt. But i cant do that, because i have a whole disk of data stored , so what can i do to safely convert partition a to gpt? I ve heard of gptgen and easeus partition master , they are said to be programs that can convert without data loss is this true? Also i ve seen disk part not only focuses on disk but leta you focus on a disk partition , can i use that for my case or will it delete all the disk anyways? Any info appreciated , thanks

1st to answer your direct question, use easus partition manager or minipartition tools, you have the option to convert drives from gpt to mbr or vice-versa without deleting anything.
2nd a much better apropach(ignore if you really want to install windows in uefi mode) is to make a stick in bios (legacy mode) you dont lose any performance at all and you can keep your disk in current mode. Be sure to select in bios as boot device the disk you want to install the windows on it.

(1) will easeus partition master do the job too? Do i need to make a bootable cd to secure the integrity of the disk?
(2) actually im still afraid of something that could happen to my data so i liked your second approach , can you specify and explain to me those steps? By "stick" you mean pendrive ? Thanks !

Yes, use rufus to make a bootable pendrive and select mbr uefi or bios option, then when you boot select the non uefi option. before you boot from pendrive make sure the windows drive is selected as a boot option. then use the quick boot mode and boot from pendrive.

You've encountered a problem re the Win 10 OS that untold thousands of PC users are running into and I know of no easy solution to it.

Win 10 must be installed on a GPT-partitioned disk. It will not install on a MBR-partitioned disk. Note that the entire disk is either MBR or GPT partitioned. You cannot create one partition MBR and another partition GPT on a multi-partitioned disk (such as your 1 TB HDD) . The entire disk must be one or the other.

The upshot of all this is that in virtually every case a fresh install of the Win 10 OS onto a GPT partitioned disk is mandatory.

I know of no reliable third-party application that can convert a MBR-partitioned disk to GPT (or vice versa) WITHOUT DATA LOSS, including any partition management program with which I'm familiar. The gptgen program purports to do so but the couple of times we used it did not fill us with any joy. But presumably others have had good experience with it so you may want to give it a try.

IN THE EVENT THAT YOU DO HAPPEN TO USE SOME PROGRAM FOR CONVERSION PURPOSES, MAKE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN YOU'VE CLONED YOUR SOURCE DISK BEFORE UNDERTAKING THE DISK-CLONING OPERATION.

Hey guys , i think it's solved. Apparently idk how but by upgrading windows 10 from windows 8.1 , and choosing to keep files and delete all settings and apps windows 10 works without meddling with the gpt conversion. I dont know if windows 10 automatically converts it but i flashed the iso to a usb , double clicked on setup and made all the steps so it wouldnt make a fresh install but it would upgrade to new windows and here i am now with windows 10 pro. So i think it's done , thanks a lot for the help !

LOL what? Sir please research before posting things you dont know, every windows is capable to be installed uefi(gpt) or bios(legacy, mbr) he just hapent to try to install a windows made specifically for gpt. Just use media creation tool from microsoft website to download original windows iso then use rufus to create a mbr pendrive. My home pc and notebook has been installed on both mbr and uefi, in their life time, now i m with mbr due to some back-up problems generated by the gpt filesystem (creates aditional partions which Acronis cannot clone them properly ). I really want to highlight the fact both my pc and my laptop are now windows 10 mbr installed. Stop giving bad advices if you dont know what your talking about.

Glad we could help, for sure it is in mbr format, windows cannot convert to gpt without deleting the entire data just a few softwares can do that. You can make a clean install if u want now you are conviced that is possible, the onyl thing is when you boot your flash drive will be seen twice, once with uefi in front the other without uefi in front, u must boot from the non-uefi option.

EDIT: i m talking here about rufus made pendrive.

I sincerely apologize for the mistaken information I provided to the poster and yourself. My only excuse (admittedly a flimsy one!) is that for reasons that are now unfathomable to me I completely misread the poster's objective although a re:reading of his initial post and your response indicate he clearly stated his intentions and you provided a solution. Again, my apology.
