Directx 7 compatibility with windows 8

I wanted to play an old game on my computer which needs directx7 but when i try to launch it it says incorrect verion of DirectX. if i try to reinstall it from the cd it just says installation succsesfull but it dosent work, when i try to get DirectX from site, it says it isnt compatible

You'll need to buy/find an old copy of Win 98 most likely and run the game in a virtual machine, games that old generally don't play well with new hardware or operating systems.

But this one should've worked, becouse i used to play it on this same computer with my brother (he ahs Windows 8 too) but that was 1 year ago and i formated my computer between that time. Main problem really is why is it saying that my version of Windows is not compatible with directx7

No OS since XP is capable of installing DX7.

If the software uses only paths that are shared with DX9c, you should have been able to launch the application in compatibility mode. Did you not try compatibility mode?

I did try that but it dosen't work
and you can install DirectX on Windows 8 except mine i guess (i can easily play the game on my bothers PC)
is there any way i can find what is corrupted im the system so i can fix this incompatibility
