Building a new sytem, using a i5 6600k but since it doesnt come with a stock cooler an since i plan on overclocking it as much as i can, i need a good cooler. Specifically a air cooler within the limits of say 40usd. i know of the hyper 212 evo. But it seems a little to obvious an im not really sure as to what the better cooler brands are these days. any help is appreciated.
also ill have a either a mid tower or full tower case an a Atx mobo

Solution
14nm runs cool. No need for exotic cooling.
Most any tower type cooler with a 120mm fan will do the job like the hyper212.
I like the cryorig H7 which is similarly priced but has a lower profile.

The next step up would be a noctua cooler with a 140mm fan.
Their fans are excellent.
Here is a NH-U14s. The s indicates a cooler with extra clearance for graphics cards and tall ram heat spreaders:

FWIW, here are the odds of a i5-6600K overclock at 1.40v:
4.9 3%
4.8 38%
4.7 70%
4.6 85%

There is a review of the Cryorig H7 at Tweaktown that includes mounting information (and pics) at:

The above link is to the installation and mounting page. The start of the article is at:
