Could be hardware - some loose connection jiggled when SDcard inserted. Or could be a software conflict.
Can you created the connection drop in any other way? If not that might rule out a bad connection...
Do you get any error messges?
Press Win + R and in the Open box type perfmon /rel.
Look for red circles with white "x's". Click for circle for details.
