Hey,

I have just received my Motherboard back from RMA and have rebuilt my computer.

Everything turns on, CPU fan, GPU fan & lights, Motherboard lights & debugger etc. All except the power supply.

Out of 10 tries to power on:

Turns on, stays on, no PSU fan, no picture and it will be stuck at debug code 04 on motherboard. 2/10

When I turn the computer on, roughly around 2 seconds after the CPU fan initializes the computer turns off, then back on again. 7/10

Computer stays on, I get a single beep from speaker, still no picture/PSU fan 1/10

Build:Socket 1151
Corsair Carbide 100R Case
i7 6700k
Gigabyte G1 Ultra Durable Z170X-GAMING 7
Asus Turbo GTX970 4GB
Corsair Vengeance LPX 2333mhz 8GB x2
OCZ 120gb SSD
Corsair RM550 ATX12V

Help would be GREATLY appreciated, i've been looking at this thing for a month now :'(

The thing with PSU's is that they should work regardless of the components (as long as you don't exceed their power capacity).

If you RMA'd your motherboard, have you considered the possibility that the motherboard was damaged by the PSU? Do you have another PSU you could try your components with?

That's the plan today, when im back from the office will try a different power supply... I know that power supply can handle the capacity fine because when the system was running originally it used about 300-400w

I've had this sort of problem. I shorted out my motherboard (it was old though, most new motherboards have ESD protection) through a USB port (my keyboard). All lights on the motherboard would turn on, but the fans wouldn't spin/no boot or POST.

In my case, both the motherboard and PSU were fried, the ESD probably fried the PSU and that in turn fried the motherboard. All my components (except the CPU, haven't tested it on another board so I don't know) were fine though.

If that's the case, you'd need to test a new powersupply (as I did), and when it still does the same, you'd need to test a new motherboard as well. Chances are slim this happened to you with newer components (my components were oooold).

Keep this in mind: some PSUs won't even turn on their fan until they get to a certain temperature, so it might be just fine. You might have just forgotten a 24pin power connector on your motherboard, or the CPU power connector might be wonky/loose... It could be anything but it most likely is your PSU or motherboard.
