Hey Guys,

So I'm upgrading to an i5 4460 and using the Asus H81M-PLUS S1150 Intel H81 DDR3 mATX to house it. I was wondering, would I be able to take the 2x4 GB of DDR3 memory from my old rig and place them straight onto the new motherboard ? Also would I need to update the BIOS before inserting the new CPU ? Do I need to apply thermal paste ? And one last thing, sorry if I'm being a burden but we all gotta learn somehow. Can I connect the hard drive I'm using now that holds my operating system win 8.1 and all my data to the new motherboard and expect it to work ?

Thanks in advance :)

The DDR3 will more than likely work (what do you have?). Prob won't need to update BIOS for the CPU. Will need thermal compound between CPU and cooler - most coolers come with it, as does the stock cooler with the CPU. The hard drive, as is is a maybe and worth a try, make sure Win is up to date, make backups of your data files and give it a try, Win, more often than not will look at the new hardware and config itself, then when done you need to update to the latest mobo drivers, run a registry cleaner (Wise has a good free version) and reactivate Win

The brand stated on the RAM from what I can see is Patriot. There is a 1.5gb update for my Win 8.1 pro so I'll download that soon. Thanks for your help :)
