My screen went black in the middle of installing the latest geforce update, the computer starts well in safe mode but on "normal" mode the screen flickers 4/5 times and goes permanently black. I have a asus gtx760 and windows 8.1 64 bits. I don't know if it helps but I was watching a youtube video in full screen while installing the update.

You likely have this fixed now but I had the same issue. It was a problem with Nvidia's drivers and they have since fixed this issue. It had something to do with multiple monitor setups during installation. I had to revert back to a restore point to get the damn driver off my computer.
