Does displayport version 1.2a work with version 1.2?

Hey, i have a gpu which has 1.2 displayport. My question is, if i get a monitor which has 1.2a displayport version, can i use these two together?

Any display port will work with any other, same thing for HDMI. Issue may be resolution capability but that is only for 4k displays and such.

Thank you for your answer. i am very new to this subject. What are the important points while checking displayport compatibility. For example can i plug version 13 and 12, or maybe there is no compatibility issue at all as long as they are displayport?
