Even if it has 6 cores amd is under intel for gaming and in general, go for an i5 or i7 if your computer is for gaming. IPC(Instructions per cycle) of an amd is much lower compared to intel. Honestly for you right now best thing is a i5 if you cant afford an i7. AMD r9 380 is a pretty good videocard and it is comparable with 970, in the new dx 12 benchmarks amd surpassed nvidia in benchmarks.

Take in consideration that in the test is fury and not fury x which is more powerful then the fury and it is against the most powerfull videocard from nvidia, titan x.

The i5 4460 with the R9 380 is better, because the i3 only has 2 cores and isnt ment for gaming.
Also the i3 would bottleneck the 970 which means that the graphics card could be faster but the cpu cant keep up with it.
Go with the i5 and the 380

I do not think that the i3 6100 is too slow for the 970. And it is fine for gaming as it has 4 threads. It may struggle in some games, but it is still good for gaming. If any issues arise, he can upgrade to an i5/i7 in the future. But, I think that the i3/970 is the better choice.

I just looked at some benchmarks and you really could game with the new i3 but if its not a budget question, then i´d go for the i5. They both perform somewhat the same around games but i guess the i5 has a small advantage when it comes to multitasking etc.

It depends what games you play. Not all games requires more than 2 cores. But in most recent games you can see that more games have recommended requirements listed including i5 or even i7. i3 6100 has better performance per core, but multi-core performance is better on i5 4460.
i would look at least at i5 4590, and try to pair it with a best GPU you can afford.

Should I go with fx 6300 as on benchmarks( the division) GTX 970 and fx 6300 is still better and as it has six cores games will fully use it with DX 12 or is it not so?Any other recommendation in similar budget(600$)
